Why UTM parameters matter
UTM parameters are the foundation of attribution. Without them, you're flying blind, unable to tie revenue back to specific campaigns, channels, or even individual pieces of content. For CMOs managing multi-channel strategies, that's not acceptable.
Clean UTM hygiene separates strategic marketers from tactical executors. Consistent naming conventions let you answer questions like "Which newsletter partnership drove the most qualified leads?" or "Is our LinkedIn organic content outperforming paid?" The alternative is guesswork dressed up as reporting.
This tool enforces best practices: auto-slugification (lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces), required fields for source and medium, and common presets that eliminate inconsistency. Use it every time you share a link externally. Your analytics team, and your board, will thank you.
The four parameters

utm_mediumRequired- Marketing medium (e.g. social, email, paid).
utm_campaignOptional- Specific campaign identifier.
utm_contentOptional- Differentiates ads or links that point to the same URL.
